Changes to User Pays UK Visa Application Centres

August 27, 2015

As of 1st September 2015, UK Visas and Immigration will be rolling out changes which will see a number of their visa application centres converted into user pays centres. This will mean that when an applicant books an appointment at one of these centres, they will be subject to a £52 fee in addition to their visa application fee.

The purpose for converting visa application centres into user pay centres are primarily to cover the cost of operation in these locations. The £52 fee will allow the centres to remain open in these areas, ensuring that applicants in those areas will not be subject to long distance travel, potentially to other countries, in order to submit their visa applications.

It should also be noted that those that apply at user pay centres and wish to update their appointment details will be required to do so up to 5 days before the scheduled appointment to be successful. This is in contrast to visa application centres where the time limit in which an applicant can update their appointment details is 24 hours before.

The centres that will be effected by the change are:

  • Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia

  • Jalandhar, India

  • Osaka, Japan

  • Jinan, China- From the 1st October

  • Izmir, Turkey

  • Rostov, Russia

  • Dusseldorf, Germany

  • Zurich, Switzerland

  • Madrid, Spain

  • Rome, Italy

  • Warsaw, Poland
